Studio Policies & Guidelines
Lessons expectations:
Students are expected to arrive adequately prepared for lessons. Your engagement and progress during our time together are directly correlated with the effort you invest outside of our sessions.
Preparation entails promptly reviewing each week's notes as they are updated in your personal document.
Being honest about your practice is more important than not telling the truth. Openness helps us both learn better.
Perfection is not what I look for, but it's important to practice diligently. I can tell when things haven't been practiced enough.
Required materials for all students include:
A well-functioning flute.
Metronome.*
Tuner.*
All assigned method books and sheet music.
An updated Zoom account, for online students.**
A camera and microphone, either external or built into your laptop, or any other electronic device.**
A fast internet connection is essential!**
Above all, enjoy the process. Is to guide you through your journey of building your flute skills and musicianship.
*Mobile apps Tuner/Metronome are acceptable.
**Online students
Payment:
Payment will be structured in 4-lesson packages.
Upon enrollment, payment equivalent to 4 weeks of lessons is due before the first session.
New students have the option for an individual trial lesson before committing to the initial four-lesson package.
Continuation after the trial lesson requires payment for the remaining 3 lessons of the package before the second session.
Payment methods accepted include cash, check, Venmo, or Zelle. Checks should be made payable to "Rafael Mendez Rubel.”
Absences & Cancellations:
Lessons canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled time or missed entirely are non-refundable.
A minimum of 24-hours notice for absences is required to qualify for a rescheduled make-up lesson at no additional cost.
Make-up lessons need to be rescheduled the week of absence.
If I need to cancel, a make-up lesson will be arranged at our earliest convenience.
Tardiness will not extend the scheduled lesson time. For example, a 15-minute delay to a 60-minute session will result in a 45-minute lesson. However, charges will still count for the full 60-minute lesson.
If I am late, the full lesson time will be honored, or compensation will be arranged based on mutual availability.
Rates for online and in-person lessons are subject to change.
30-minute lesson: $50
45-minute lesson: $60
60-minute lesson: $70
